Tractor of the Year 2023 – Best of Specialized: Landini Rex 4-120GT Robo-Shift

Of the four variants of the Rex 4 Landini series available, the GT is designated for large orchards and open fieldwork. The 4-120 offers 112hp maximum horsepower, boosted from 104hp, and torque levels of 420Nm from the Deutz-AG 2.9-litre engine. Emissions technology is all contained under the bonnet to retain visibility levels.

Service intervals have been increased to 1,000 hours, while the design offers easy access to oil and fuel filters, as well as the AdBlue tank which features a specially designed refill cap that does not need to be unscrewed.

Power is put to the ground via the Robo-Shift transmission; a robotized powershift with 36×12 gears, with HML splitter, increasing to 48×16 when a creeper box is fitted. The gearbox is controlled via an all-in-one multifunction joystick and comes complete with a Stop&Action clutchless braking system.

Landini reports a 15% increase in hydraulic flow rate, with a double pump system fitted as standard (58 and 30 litres per minute) and the option of a triple pump open circuit system, with 58 and 30 litres per minute for the rear and mid-mount valves, and 36 litres for steering. With the triple pump system, 54 litres per minute is available at just 1,500rpm.

The electronic rear lift can carry 3,400kg, increasing from 2,700kg on non-GT variants, with the option of a fully integrated front hitch which can lift up to 1,700kg.

In the operator zone, the cabin is mounted on two independent hydro-silentblocks and there is the option of Category 4 cabin filtration. The controls are laid out ergonomically, and there is a smartphone holder with two USB charging ports.
