Board appointments for AHDB Beef & Lamb

Two new members have been appointed to the board of AHDB Beef & Lamb replacing those whose terms have come to end.

They are Laurie Ibbotson, who comes from a farming family, and Robert Venner, a partner in a firm of auctioneers.

Laurie’s family farms in the Peak District, North Derbyshire, a traditional upland suckler cow and sheep farm. She has a very practical knowledge of cattle production and through her work she understands the complexity of producing great quality beef commercially.

She is passionate about all things countryside and in particular sustainable livestock production. She is the Commercial Director at Dovecote Park Ltd, beef processors for Waitrose and, in a very diverse role, she oversees livestock schemes and procurement (beef, veal and venison) as well as the sales and new product development teams.

Robert is a partner with the firm of Auctioneers Greenslade Taylor Hunt and is partner in charge of Sedgemoor Auction Centre. He is a member of the Livestock Auctioneers Association and current Chair of Meat South West. He also farms a pedigree herd of Aberdeen Angus in partnership with his mother in Devon.

AHDB Beef & Lamb strategy director Laura Ryan said: “I would like to thank retiring members Richard Phelps and Ed Green and welcome both Laurie and Robert to the board.

“They both have a great deal of experience which will be of benefit to the organisation and to levy payers.”
