Parasite Control Specialist scheme launched for SQPs

A new professional development initiative aimed at improving parasite control is being launched by Norbrook this November.

The Parasite Control Specialist (PCS) Scheme, which is aimed at SQPs across the UK, is part of Norbrook’s ProCPD training, and will feature lectures and interactive learning on best practice approaches to parasite management in livestock, horses and pets.

The inaugural two-day event is set to be held on November 22-23, at the Barnsdale Hall Hotel, Rutland Water.

Chris Geddes, Marketing Manager for Norbrook, says the PCS Scheme will help advance the professional development of SQPs and provide them with the necessary tools and knowledge to excel as advisors.

“We believe this event is the first of its kind in the industry, specifically targeting parasites. While it’s predominantly aimed at large animal parasites, we will also look at ectoparasites and equine and small animal parasites.”

Dr Geddes says the accredited course will be run in conjunction with industry experts: “It will include presentations from key opinion leaders, but will also be interactive, with delegates encouraged to present to and collaborate with others.”

“Attendees can accumulate AMTRA points through the two day event, which is open to SQPs from trade stores and veterinary practices,” says Dr Geddes. “Here they will have the opportunity to engage with our veterinary surgeons and industry experts on topics such as stomach worms, lungworms, liver fluke, lice and mange mites.”

Spaces are limited and interested SQPs should speak to their Norbrook Territory Manager for more information.
