At the annual Meat Management Awards, announced Tuesday 8th September 2020, The Best Trade Organisation 2020 has been won by The Association of Independent Meat Suppliers (AIMS)

The award which recognised the work undertaken over the last months highlighted the association’s commitment to their members during the current Coronavirus pandemic.

AIMS which also incorporates the National Association of Catering Butchers (NACB) has updated members daily since mid-March taking them through every relevant Government announcement whilst offering practical support and advice.

They also were among the first to press the Government for the introduction of flexible furlough and to highlight the difficulties that the supply chain was facing in respect to Trade Credit Insurance. AIMS also made a submission to the Financial Conduct Authority’s Business Interruption Insurance legal clarity work and have been prominent members of DEFRA Food Chain Emergency Liaison Group.

In a further category, AIMS Head of Policy Norman Bagley was presented with The Excellence Award.

Commenting on the awards AIMS Chairman, John Thorley said: “The important aspect of winning the Trade Association of the Year is that it demonstrates the fact that AIMS are now recognised as a truly professional organisation that puts members and their concerns first.

“In Norman Bagley we have a true champion for the meat industry who never shy to challenge the regulators and who is always ambitious for member’s business success.”

AIMS, which was established in 2001, is based around a board of Directors drawn from some of the country’s best meat and poultry processing businesses as well as a support team of vets, technical and legal experts, and meat industry professionals.
