Following a change in business structure of Kirkwall-based J&W Tait, Kverneland has appointed MLM Engineering, based at Orphir, to handle sales, service and distribution across Orkney and the Shetland Islands.
“We’ve had a good relationship with J&W Tait over many years and it was a mutual decision that led to us taking over the franchise when the Tait family decided to stop,” explains MLM Engineering’s dealer principal Alan Muir, pictured with business partner David Linkletter.
The dealership has 11 members of staff, six of whom are based in the workshop. Alan adds that he expects ploughs and grassland equipment to do particularly well due to the prominance of beef cattle, dairy herds and sheep on the island, alongside feed and malting cereals.
“We’re looking to build on the good work that J&W Tait had achieved with its customers during its 28 years as a Kverneland dealer,” he said.
