Early bird tickets for the Cereals Event are now on sale, with 50% of every ticket price going to a choice of three farming charities.

“We know that farmers are facing a challenging time, with soaring input costs, the transition away from Basic Payments and the uncertainty of global trade deals,” explains event organiser Alli McEntyre. “As an event, we want to support the industry with as much practical help and advice as possible, but we also wanted to raise funds for those who are most in need.”

Visitors will be able to choose whether their donation goes to the Farming Community Network (FCN), RABI or Yellow Wellies. In addition, FCN will be hosting a fundraiser on day one of Cereals, with celebrity guests to be announced.

Other features at the event include the AHDB winter wheat and barley, expanded crop plots, NIAB Soil Hole and the NAAC Land Drainage Hub. In addition, there will be a wide array of working demonstrations, many of which have already sold out amid strong exhibitor demand.

New this year will be a Crop to Kitchen area, featuring farm businesses that have diversified into direct sales including heritage wheat produce, home-brewed beer and pressed rapeseed oil. “Visitors will be able to buy fresh food in this area and there will be a dedicated chef producing a tasting menu from the featured farm produce,” added Ms McEntyre.

The Cereals AHDB seminar programme will focus on hot topics of the day, including agricultural policy and its practical and financial impacts. Speakers will also explore how to tackle high input costs, climate change, environmental schemes and carbon trading, regenerative agriculture and new technology.

“Now is a time of huge change for farmers, and despite the challenges that brings, it also yields considerable opportunities,” said Ms McEntyre. “The fourth agricultural revolution is under way and Cereals 2022 will offer farmers all the tools and advice they need to navigate it successfully.”

Cereals will be held near Duxford, Cambridgeshire on the 8th and 9th of June. For more information and to purchase tickets go to www.cerealsevent.co.uk
