New-look Landini Rex tractor to debut at National Fruit Show

Two of the most popular tractors used by fruit growers will feature at the National Fruit Show, on a Landini stand staged in conjunction with Kent dealer Horsepower UK.

A new look version of the Landini Rex purpose-designed fruit tractor will make its British debut, with styling that matches the rest of a tractor range that has been thoroughly modernised and improved over the past 18 months.

The latest Rex has a redesigned bonnet made from stronger and more weather resistant materials, and a refreshed cab with upgraded features. However, the new Rex continues to provides the same technical solutions that fruit growers appreciate and continues in F (narrow orchard), GE (low orchard) and GT (large orchard, open field) versions.

All are powered by fuel-efficient Perkins three- and four-cylinder engines with outputs from 68-110hp. A choice of 12×12, 15×15 and 30×30 speed transmissions with mechanical or power shuttle makes the most of the power available for different applications.

Being displayed alongside is the evergreen Mistral compact, commonly used for pulling ‘fruit trains’ through orchards at harvest before being put to lighter duties such as mowing and spraying for weed control, and other jobs that need a small but capable, durable and reliable tractor.

Liked for its easy-to-drive character, comfort (in open and cabbed formats) and grippy but still highly manoeuvrable four-wheel drive, the Mistral is available in four models with 35-54hp.

Details will also be available on all other models in the Landini range – from the all-new 60-107hp 4 Series to the high-tech 165-212hp 7 Series – including the newly-launched Landini 5-D High Clear.

This new high clearance tractor has two- or four-wheel drive from large diameter row crop wheels all round and improved fuel economy from a new engine with 85hp, 95hp and 102hp outputs.

Further improved fuel economy comes from choosing the new 540/540E pto option, which gives the required shaft speed at either maximum power or at almost 30% lower engine revs.

Information on Valpadana specialist tractors – a sister brand of manufacturer Argo Tractors – will also be available.
