Yorkshire farm machinery importer launches Unia Spreader

An East Yorkshire farm machinery importer has further consolidated his partnership with Polish manufacturing giant, Unia, by launching its RCW Spreader in the UK.

Market Weighton based Manterra Ltd. is the sole UK importer for Unia Group, Central Europe’s leading manufacturer of agricultural machinery and the RCW is the latest addition to Manterra’s growing range and complements the Unia MXL fertiliser and Apollo manure spreaders that were launched earlier in the year.

The RCW Plus is a trailed fertiliser and lime spreader that features a hydraulic drive belt conveyor, border spread limiter and folding hopper cover plus mechanically driven spinning discs. It is available in a choice of 5,500 dm3 or 8,200 dm3 hopper capacity and has a working width of 16m for lime and 36m for granular fertilisers. It is also available as a variable rate package with Trimble steering solutions.

Of the launch of the Unia RCW Plus spreader, Manterra founder, farmer and agronomist Andrew Manfield said: “Unia is one of Europe’s leading suppliers of Cultivators and the RCW high output spreader is a strong and versatile machine that offers an unrivalled combination of huge potential output and value for money in an integrated package.

“The Unia RCW 8,200 starts at £16,950 and I’m anticipating that it will be very popular. We have been delighted with the build quality and performance of all of the Unia machines that we have tested so far.”

Manterra Ltd was established by farmer and agronomist, Andrew Manfield in 2011 and has its foundations in a farming business that was established at the beginning of the last century. Manterra is also an authorised reseller for Trimble precision agriculture products and Duport spoke wheel injectors. In addition, Manterra is the key technology supplier to the Stockbridge Technology Centre Tru-Nject project that has secured Innovate UK funding for a three year trial to commercialise innovative soil nutrient mapping technology that has the potential to revolutionise farming practices.

Founded in 1882, Unia Group employs 1350 people at its five manufacturing sites in Poland and France and exports to over 60 countries. It produces 25,000 machines per annum.
