The Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA) has announced that 859 tractors were registered in May, a 7% increase from the same month last year.
While this was below the average for this time of year, it does bring the total for 2026 up to 4,956 machines, up 23.4% compared to the same period in 2025. This is just 4% below the average for the first five months of the year.
The AEA speculates that if growth continues at this pace, the total for 2026 could exceed 10,000 units. However, it recognises the increased costs and uncertainty faced by farmers due to the conflict in the Middle East, which may yet impact registrations.
