A former agriculture director with a wealth of experience in the food and farming sectors has been appointed as the new Chief Executive of the Centre for Innovation Excellence in Livestock (CIEL). Lyndsay Chapman joined CIEL on 18 September.

Mrs Chapman was previously the Agriculture Director for Müller Milk & Ingredients and an integral part of the management team responsible for the integration of the Dairy Crest Dairies business, where she was Director of Agriculture and Communications.

She will be responsible for leading the organisation, working with industry to identify key challenges and priorities, and ensuring relevant research is driven through new world-class facilities.

Commenting on the appointment, CIEL chairman Tim Bennett said: “We are delighted to have Lyndsay on board. Her experience leading teams and developing collaborative relationships makes her the ideal person to lead CIEL. We need someone who can work across the entire supply chain, bringing everyone together to identify key industry priorities and help reduce fragmentation in the research area.

“Lyndsay’s work at Müller and Dairy Crest demonstrates she is capable of delivering results and leading change. She is an excellent communicator and influencer and I look forward to working with her to take CIEL through the next stage in its development,” he said.

Mrs Chapman added: “Working with CIEL is a really exciting opportunity. Innovation is vital to drive the entire livestock supply chain forward and help the UK remain competitive in a challenging market place.

“I intend to create valuable partnerships and collaborations within the research community and livestock supply chain to identify and accelerate leading innovation for industry and livestock farmers.”
