New recruits bolster AHDB’s pork technical team

Two new recruits have joined the pork technical team at the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB)

Jen Waters has returned after an eight year hiatus as Senior Knowledge Exchange (KE) Manager, while Grace Whitlow has taken up the role of Environment and Buildings Knowledge Transfer (KT) Manager.

Jen will be heading up the KE team, with a strong focus on key account management. Her previous role as Supply Chain Development Manager at Tulip Ltd. has given her extensive experience of building relationships with producers and retailers alike.

As well as a research masters in pig diseases, Jen also has a postgraduate certificate in Meat Business Management.

She said: “I’m delighted to be back at AHDB as Senior KE Manager for Pork. I’m really looking forward to getting to know the team and continuing to add value to our levy payers.”

Grace comes from the National Farmers Union where she worked as an Environment Adviser. In that role she led on water quality and ammonia policy, took on the challenge of ‘Farming Rules for Water’, nitrate vulnerable zones and the government’s ambitions for farming, as set out in the ‘Clean Air Strategy.’

Grace will be working with farmers and key stakeholders to optimise productivity, while meeting the demands of environmental legislation, planning and permitting rules.

Steve Dunkley, Head of Pork KE, said: “I’m excited that Jen and Grace have joined the team. Jen’s wide range of experience will be invaluable as she leads AHDB’s Farm Excellence activities for the pork sector, as well as working closely with large key accounts.

“Grace’s understanding of environmental policy will be a real asset in supporting our livestock sectors as they adopt best practices.”
