Derbyshire Bobcat dealer Butler Reynolds Ltd is pleased to announce that it beat its target of raising £20,000 in its recent charity raffle. The firm raffled off a Bobcat E10z one-tonne mini-excavator to raise money for the When You Wish Upon a Star charity, based in Nottingham, which provides once in a lifetime experiences for seriously ill children.

Butler Reynolds confirmed that it raised £20,400 for the charity and announced that Chris O’Hara of Trent Bridge Construction Ltd, Nottingham, was the winner of the draw.

Mr O’Hara has been trading in the Midlands area for more than 25 years. When he heard about the draw, he made contact with Nigel Long, a director at Butler Reynolds, to purchase tickets and support the firm. Commenting on winning the draw, he said: “It’s really good timing that I have won this as I have quite a lot of work coming up for this machine.”

Mr O’Hara added that he would donate an additional £1,000 to the charity fund.

    Beating the target

Nigel Long and fellow director, Heather Tormey were thrilled to beat their donation target. Mr Long said: “As we said before the raffle took place, the Wishes charity was one that my fellow Director, Heather Tormey and I had been aware of for some time now. Both Heather and I were really pleased to hand over a cheque for £20,400 to Alexa Wigfield, Regional Fundraiser at When You Wish Upon a Star.”

Ms Tormey added: “We were really pleased to have raised so much for the charity and we are so grateful to everyone who purchased tickets, then for Chris to add another £1000 to the fund is fantastic.”

Five ticket holders won Bobcat jackets. These were Wayne Smith – Derbyshire Diggers; James Bruton – J E Builders; Dave Moore – Richmond; Tony Hall – Pegasus and Jordan Darrall – JD Contractors. Due to the high level of entries, Butler Reynolds increased the number of third-place prizes to fifteen, with winners receiving a Bobcat scale model.

Commenting on the donation, Alexa Wigfield said: “Congratulations to Butler Reynolds on running a brilliant event and to the winner, Chris O’Hara and all the winners of the runners-up prizes. Thanks to everybody who entered the raffle – to receive these donations from Butler Reynolds and Chris will help us to continue granting magical Wishes. All children have Wishes but for these children and their families that Wish is so precious. Each Wish brings with it the opportunity to look forward to something very special, to forget about their often painful treatments and to simply be a child for the day, creating special treasured memories.”
