An all-new range of Landini tractors, which is set to become a stockmen’s favourite, has been launched by national distributor AgriArgo UK.
The 4 Series joins the Landini line-up as a powerful, light-weight and versatile tractor with no real equivalent in the current range. Three models will be available at first, with maximum power outputs of 90hp, 99hp and 107hp.
“This is an important development for the Landini marque, which has an enthusiastic following amongst livestock farmers in particular,” says Ray Spinks, general manager and sales director at AgriArgo. “The new range joins the current line-up below the new 5-D and 5-H series tractors to give farmers a choice of size, power, comfort and features for all applications.”
A new transmission developed by Landini manufacturer Argo Tractors is at the heart of the Landini 4 Series. Its flexible architecture means buyers can choose the best set-up for the work their tractor will be doing.
First, there is a relatively basic 40kph specification with 12 speeds forward and reverse, a synchro shuttle and dry clutch two-speed pto.
Alternatively, the higher spec package comes with 24 speeds, HiLo push button splitter and overdrive gearing for reduced, more economical revs when running at the 40kph top speed. There is also a smooth-shifting power shuttle and hydraulically engaged two-speed pto with this package – and the pto can be upgraded to include a ground-drive option.
The creep gearbox option adds another three configurations to the five core set-ups, providing 16 or 32 speeds that include especially low ratios to operate precision seeders and other specialist implements.
Argo Tractors also produces the new front axle for the Landini 4 Series. It has a 100% locking differential for maximum traction in difficult conditions and integral disc brakes can be included for maximum safety from secure all-wheel braking.
Further choice is evident in the hydraulics department where two pump sizes are available – the base 44-litres/min system is more than sufficient for routine applications, while the 57-litre/min Hi-Flow upgrade is ideal for a working with a loader and other high-demand implements.
In both cases, a 32-litre/min pump dedicated to the steering system ensures that hydraulic oil is never in short supply.
Similarly, the 2900kg rear linkage lift capacity can be upgraded to 3300kg with assister rams and is operated by either mechanical or electronic controls. Twin mid-valves and a joystick are available to make it easy to install and operate a loader or the new front linkage option.
Despite having a low overall height – 2.52m on 30in tyres, 2.57m on 34in tyres – the new cab on the Landini 4 Series has a flat floor and ample headroom thanks to an ultra-slim roof panel.
The new design has been made possible by a novel air conditioning system with filters located in the rear pillars rather than the roof.
All three of the new Landini models are powered by a compact 3.6-litre four-cylinder Deutz engine that is newly developed to deliver generous power and torque with excellent fuel economy.
At rated engine speed, outputs are 85hp, 95hp and 102hp – but because of the ‘power bulge’ characteristics of the engine, more power becomes available as the engine is worked hard, peaking at 90hp, 99hp and 107hp for tough draft work and power-hungry pto-driven implements.
Prices start at £37,114 for a 90hp 4-090 and climb to £39,513 for the 107hp 4-105 with base specification.
