Antonio Carraro introduces A Series tractors

At an open day for its Herefordshire customers, Antonio Carraro importers Kirkland UK showcased the new A Series tractor. Unlike the Italian manufacturer’s other ranges of specialist orchard and vineyard machines, the A Series has a standard tractor design, with larger rear tyres and a steering front axle.

The three models are available in a range of specifications. The narrow AV spec has a minimum width of 1,336mm, increasing to 1,596mm depending on tyre choice. For the larger AF specification, these widths range between 1,532mm and 1,792mm. Across all models, the ground clearance is 210mm at the front and 230mm at the rear, providing a low centre of gravity for stability when working on slopes.

Regardless of the specification, the tractors offer power outputs of 75hp, 90hp and 100hp from the FPT F28 engine. This is put to the ground through a Carraro transmission, with four synchronised gears, a three-way splitter and two ranges for 24 gears in forward and reverse. The top speed of all three models is 40kph.

At the rear, the mechanical hitch can lift a maximum of 2,600kg. As standard, two hydraulic pumps are mounted, with a 60-litre unit powering implements, while a 27-litre pump handles steering. A third unit, with an output of 27 litres/min, can be fitted to improve performance. Oil is pumped through a standard setup of two mechanical spools, with an additional valve available as an option.

The AF models are available with configurations that make them compact and suitable for working under low-hanging branches, with a roll bar and 24in or 28in wheels, or for working between rows or in the open field, with the cab and 24in or 28in version.
