Thirty years after the introduction of the Lexion harvester range, Claas has announced a series of updates and a brand-new model. The new Lexion 8500 is available in both wheeled and Terra Trac models, powered by a MAN D26 549hp engine and available with either a 13,500 or 15,000 litre grain tank.
It sits at the bottom of the 8000 range, which extends to 790hp and capacities of 18,000 litres, all using a MAN engine.
The latest model comes as standard with the company’s Dynamic Power and Dynamic Cooling systems, which have also been integrated into the Lexion 7500 model. All Lexion machines benefit from the APS Synflow Hybrid threshing system, with a 1,700mm feed channel width, three drums, a 755mm threshing drum and two axial rotors. While the rest of the 8000 range are fitted with six rotor concaves, with a rotor speed of 1,200rpm, the smaller 8500 has five concaves and a rotor speed of 1,000rpm.
Throughout the rest of the Lexion 8000 range, the 8600 can now also be specified with a 15,000 litre grain tank, while the 8700 can be upgraded to 18,000 litres to match the flagship machine. Various design changes have also been made, with options of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto in the cabin, a new blow gun for quick and easy cleaning and new interior lighting.
The full Lexion series now also benefits from new exterior LED lighting. Three CEMOS packages have also been put together to help boost productivity:
- CEMOS Auto for 10% throughput capacity, significant learning effects and more driving comfort thanks to dialogue-based optimisation, automatic regulation of the forward speed and automatic crop flow monitoring. The menu-guided loss sensor calibration is said to be unique on the market.
- CEMOS Auto Plus for up to 20% performance optimisation and automatic optimisation of residual grain separation, cleaning and digital sweep control.
- CEMOS Auto Professional for more than 20% more output, including automatic setting of the threshing unit and camera-based monitoring, analysis and optimisation for maximum throughput with the best grain quality and minimum trash
New flagship Trion
In addition to the latest Lexion model and updates across its top series of harvesters, Claas has introduced a new flagship machine to its Trion range, as well as updates to all models.
Now sitting at the top is the Trion is the 760 model, available as a wheeled machine or with the Terra Trac system. It’s fitted with a MAN D26 engine, producing 507hp and has a grain tank capacity of 13,500 litres. The MAN power unit is also installed in the 750 machine, offering 466hp. Both top models use the APS Twin Hybrid threshing unit, with a 1,420mm feed channel width, 600mm threshing drum and two axial rotors with a 445mm diameter and a length of 4,200mm.
The 740, 730 and 720 use the Cummins L9 engine, producing 435hp, 408hp and 367hp respectively, and use the APS Single Hybrid threshing system with one 570mm axial rotor. Grain tank capacities are set at 12,000 litres for all but the 760, and the four machines can also be specified as either a Terra Trac unit or with the Montana hydraulic chassis slope compensation system, which can account for cross-slopes up to 18%.
The Montana specification drops the tank capacity to 11,000 litres on the 750, 740 and 730, and 10,500 litres on the 720.
On the top two models, Dynamic Power and Dynamic Cooling are standard, with the former automatically adapting engine speed to suit conditions and minimise fuel consumption, while the latter adds a variable fan which adapts to conditions.
Across the full Trion range, the cab has been updated to include Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as the option of compressed air connection and a blow gun for quick cleaning. Interior lighting and large storage compartments are included for long working days, and a brand-new LED work light package has been added to the exterior.
As with the Lexion range, Claas has also integrated the updated CEMOS Automatic combine optimisation system, available in three performance levels.
