Brian Coleman, the founder of Terrington Machinery Ltd, has passed away aged 81.

He established the business after 25 years of working as a farm manager, initially under the name Coleman Enterprises. Then, in 1991, he was approached by a representative of the Einbock mechanical weeding range.

Brian could see the benefit to his customers, having already sold equipment in the UK organic sector, and agreed to bring the first Einbock Aerostar tined weeder into the UK.

Things really kicked off with the Terrington and Einbock relationship when a customer requested a demonstration on grassland. After just a few passes with the Aerostar, the machine was sold. Realising the potential, Brian contacted Einbock to see if they could produce a bigger tine for grassland.

This led to the development of the Grass-Manager with 8mm tines, which led to increased dealer interest. The company now has a national dealer network, with more than 60 companies.

For the last few years, Brian had been mostly retired, and his son, David, had taken the reins of the business. David’s wife, Debbie, is the company secretary and is in control of the accounts.

As Terrington Machinery move towards 2026 without Brian, the next generation is now working within the company, with both Steven (David’s son) and Ashley (David and Debbie’s son-in-law) in 2019 and 2021, respectively.

Brian leaves behind his wife, 3 children, 5 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
