Tithebarn launch new genetics division at Dairy-Tech

Livestock nutrition specialist Tithebarn has launched an independent genetics division today at Dairy-Tech, called JMC Genetics.

It is designed to give dairy farmers greater choice and impartial breeding advice. It is said to mark a strategic expansion for the company, at a time of significant consolidation within the artificial insemination sector.

JMC Genetics will offer a broad portfolio of dairy and beef-on-dairy options, including Holstein and Jersey genetics from Westlock Genetics (USA), Norwegian Red from Geno, Fleckvieh from GGI, and Montbéliarde from Coopex.

The focus will be on fertility, longevity, functional efficiency and lifetime production to support commercial dairies in breeding profitable cattle.

In support of the launch, the company has appointed Matthew Stott as commercial director and Chris Stone as genetics director, who join existing directors John Kelso, managing director, and Andrew Hodgson, financial director.

John Kelso said the company’s independence was a key differentiator in the market. “The AI industry has seen extensive consolidation over the past decade. We’re proud to be bucking that trend. JMC Genetics is not tied to a single breeding organisation, allowing us to offer impartial advice and bespoke breeding plans tailored to individual herd goals.

“The integration of JMC Genetics within Tithebarn also strengthens the links between breeding and nutrition on farms.”
