Fendt has introduced a new flagship tractor range at the Farm Progress Show. Said to be the most powerful tractor to be produced with a stepless transmission, the 1100 Vario MT series offers four models ranging from 521-680hp.
Built at the company’s Jackson factory in Minnesota, the 1100 Vario MT is fitted with a brand new cab, including the FendtOne system, a new lighting system and a selection of customisable control schemes.
“The new 1100 MT has incorporated the best features of the wheeled tractor range alongside class leading economy and power to help save farmers time and money. The Man D38 and Man D42 have updated engine control units, a new Tractor Management System (TMS) and a hydraulic fan system that runs independently of the engine,” says Fendt’s Ed Dennett.
The armrest is fitted with a multi-function joystick and freely assignable buttons, a 12in terminal and the 3L joystick. A digital dashboard is mounted behind the steering wheel and a second roof mounted terminal is available as an option. Isobus control comes as standard, and new agronomy functions are available including doc task management.
“The MT series has the option of our TI Headland management system which automates headland turns and adjusts the height of the implement automatically. A dual pump offers greater oil capacity and pressure and the MT can be specified with up to eight spools. Key to the innovation of the MT is its Mobile Track System (MTS) which helps provide a smooth ride while spreading the weight of the tractor to minimise soil compaction,” adds Ed.
The twin tracks are 3m long, stretched around the six-axle track system to evenly distribute the near 20t weight. Michelin tracks are available from 18in up to 36in, although the UK will see a maximum track width of 27.5in to keep the machine within a 3m maximum width.
“A two-track design with fewer moving parts provides reduced operating costs and the longer track enables the maximum permissible weight of the MT to increase by 7t to almost 27t, with a rear lift capacity of 9t,” Ed says.
Additional comfort features include dust extraction and passive filter cleaning, as seen on other Vario tractors. The fuel tank has been increased slightly to 1,370 litres and the company expects upcoming DLG tests to prove ‘class-leading’ fuel economy.
