Mole Valley Farmers lands exciting brewers’ grains contract

Mole Valley Farmers has announced that it has been awarded the contract to distribute brewers’ grains from the Molson Coors breweries at Alton in Hampshire and Sharp’s brewery at Rock in Cornwall.

Molson Coors the second largest brewer in the United Kingdom, produces over 130,000t of brewers’ grains which is all used in the animal feed market. Gaining this contract means that Mole Valley Farmers now has the ability to offer a consistent supply of brewers’ grains across its heartland at very competitive prices, without being reliant on third party suppliers.

David Vinall, Head of Alternative Feeds and Minerals for Mole Valley Farmers said “This is a real opportunity for our farmer members to source a regular supply of brewers’ grain which are a natural source of protein with essential qualities for promoting high levels of animal performance. Brewers’ grains are easily incorporated into most feeding systems and can be used to support rations if you are short of forage”.

This successful negotiation by Mole Valley Farmers will ensure that no one single company will dominate the brewers’ grains market or be able to profiteer at the expense of farmers.

The brewers’ grains contract has enabled Mole Valley to produce a new range of moist succulent feeds which will allow even more farmer members to benefit from the inclusion of brewers’ grain into the rations, manufactured at Mole Valley’s own dedicated site in Devizes. The new range consists of Mole Sweet Grains, Mole Fibre Grains and Mole Pro Grains all of which will help to increase dry matter intake and yield, simplifying the feeding system. These products are suitable for replacing or complementing forages or concentrates for dairy cows or beef animals.
