Pöttinger launches new Terrasem pneumatic mulch seed drill

Available from November this year, the latest Pöttinger Terrasem seed drill combines tillage, consolidation, fertiliser application and sowing into a single machine. It can be specified in working widths from 3m to 6m, with or without passive cultivation and with the choice of injector metering or pressurised hopper metering.

To avoid crabbing, the disc harrows, fertiliser coulters and seeding coulters are mounted in an X configuration. The aggressive point angle of the lead tillage tools is said to ensure optimum seedbed preparation and there is no need to grease the cultivation elements because they are mounted on sealed bearings.

The proven Dual Disc coulter system is fitted as standard, offering a row spacing of 12.5cm. As an option, this can be increased to 16.7cm, with the company stating that in both scenarios, optimum plant development is ensured and weeds are largely suppressed.

Single shoot, double shoot and double shoot-mix sowing options are available, allowing operators to match the seeding operation to the conditions and crop rotation. It’s possible to choose between the application of seed, seed and fertiliser, or seed, fertiliser and additional inputs such as micro-granules, companion crops or additional seed types. Notably, each product can be sown at a different depth.

Finally, the choice of metering system depends on the specification of the machine. Single hopper units (Terrasem 3000D to V 6000 D, and all Terrasem Classic models without tillage or fertiliser tools) are equipped with injector metering.

The Terrasem Z double hopper machines are fitted with a pressured hopper system. The split hopper has a fixed 60:40 partition, which can be filled with 100% as required, and uses integrated pressure differential sensors to ensure consistent metering.
