Pöttinger to launch new belt-type rake

Pöttinger has announced a specialist belt-type rake, designed to work in all types of forage, and available from the 1st of August.

The new Mergento VT 9220 offers a working width of up to 9.2m when operating with a central swath and 8.7m for a side swath. The six-row pick-up collects forage while leaving stones and dirt on the ground and is said to reduce disintegration losses because the crop is not raked across the ground.

This feeds the conveyor belt, with a drop-off point 120mm higher than the belt allowing the forage to fall freely. According to the company, the conveyor works reliably when driving downhill and with a short cut crop. Chassis rollers are positioned close to the point where the tines contact the crop and ensure ground tracking.

The machine is fitted with three hydraulic cylinders which react to bumps in the ground. The vertical freedom of movement in centre-swath mode is +475mm/-195mm, with a lateral float from +30 degrees/-13 degrees.

On the headlands, the Mergento switches the cross-conveyor off automatically and starts running again at the next pass. The delay time for turning the belts on and off can be adjusted from the cabin.

Depending on the shape of the field, the volume of forage and the follow-up harvesting machine, the new Mergento can place a centre swath, swaths to the left or right, two single swaths, convey from the inside out, and even load forage for a short period.
