The Royal Highland Show has released its livestock and equestrian class entry numbers, for its 200th anniversary show.

4,866 entries have been confirmed across all sections. With sheep entries seeing the highest overall number with 1,913, seconded by the light horse classes section with 1,405.

The overall number of entries has dropped since the last show in 2019, however many categories have seen an increase on their 2019 figures. The British Limousin class has now increased from 85 in 2019 to 92 in 2022; in the dairy section, the Holstein class is now the most-entered class with 50 entries – up from 27 in 2019; and for the equestrians, both the miniature and standard Shetland classes have grown since 2019, for 59 and 90 entries respectively.

Entries for the goat classes have remained strong, with 123 overall. Dairy Adults is the largest section with 47 entries, an increase of one since 2019.

The RHASS competitions manager, David Tennant, said: “This is the first time in three years competitors have attended a full show, so we are delighted that so many have returned to compete in our bicentenary year.”

“RHASS directors and staff are very much looking forward to welcoming members and exhibitors and seeing the show rings bustling with a full attendance of visitors to witness all of the action.”
