Tractor of the Year – Open Field: New Holland T7.300 Long Wheelbase PLM

A new flagship for the T7 Long Wheelbase range, the T7.300 is powered by an FPT Industrial NEF 6 engine delivering 280hp for draft work and boosted to 300hp for PTO and haulage work. This gives the tractor a reported best-in-class power-to-weight ratio of 28.3kg/hp. Torque levels max out at 1,249Nm.

Power is put to the ground through the Auto Command transmission; a four-range CVT gearbox with a new uprated hydrostatic system to increase the drawbar pull and the option of heavy-duty final drive to make it possible to shod the rear axle with 2.05m tyres.

The Horizon Ultra cab has been brought down to the range, offering increased precision farming capabilities and operator comfort. Noise levels are said to be just 66dB, while operator control has been integrated into a digital dashboard, the 12-inch IntelliView monitor and the SideWinder armrest. To provide additional space and the perception of space, the size of the windows and doorways has been increased, with curved glass utilised.

The Comfort Ride suspension system can be adjusted to suit the operator’s preference, with the semi-active, electro-hydraulic system using control hook logic to decouple the cab movement from the chassis. On the options list, the suspension can automatically adjust to the movement of a large square baler to minimise the jolting movement caused by the plunger.

A closed-centre, load-sensing hydraulic system offers 150 litres per minute as standard, with the option of 170 litres. A 60-litre independent steering pump is integrated to maximise hydraulic power. The rear lift has a 10,463kg capacity, with the option of a front linkage carrying 5,925kg.

With the PLM (Precision Land Management) specification, New Holland fits a telematics module, ISOBUS III automation, data transfer, section control and variable rate and the option of central tyre inflation is available for approved after-market fitment.
