New pole pruners from Stihl offer increased power

Stihl has announced two new models of its professional battery-powered pole pruners, said to offer greater cordless performance than its previous models.

The HTA 150 and 160 models are part of the company’s AP system and offer an output of 1.4kW, equal to the petrol-powered HT 135. They are driven by a low-maintenance EC motor and can handle large branches and scrub.

The 160 model has a telescopic shaft, with a maximum length of 405cm, while the 150 is a shorter, fixed-length model designed for working in younger growth.

Power is transferred through a lightweight, magnesium gearbox to improve handling, while the sprocket cover has been redesigned to enable quick ejection of wood shavings. Like many tools in the AP range, they also include a metal mesh air filter to keep key components cool.

The HTA 150 and 160 are both compatible with the Smart Connector 2 A, which collects data including working time and working speed, as well as informs the operator on maintenance tasks which are due.
