The new SC Pro-Bio rotary cultivator from Maschio

Italian manufacturer Maschio has introduced the SC Pro-Bio rotary cultivator to its product range. The SC Pro-Bio is designed to target cover crop incorporation for improved soil organic matter and will be on display at LAMMA 2023, in January, on the Opico stand in Hall 6.

Suitable for tractors between 110 and 170hp, the SC Pro-Bio is equipped with 6 ‘L’ type blades per flange and can be set at 540rpm or 1000rpm with a rotor speed of up to 300rpm.

To aid aeration the bonnet adjusters can be adjusted hydraulically from the tractor seat for increased control of soil mixing and, to guarantee the same depth across the whole working width (2.8 or 3.1m), the SC Pro-Bio has four depth wheels to ensure optimum stability and uniformity with shallow work. Working at depths of 3 to 6cm, the SC Pro-Bio can work at speeds of up to 10km/hr too.

Product manager, Dominic Burt, said: “The SC Pro-Bio has been designed to break down and incorporate crop residues, cover crops and green manures. Plant debris is mulched and mixed with fine soil in the top few centimetres, greatly accelerating the decomposition and transformation of residue into compost-like material.

“Adding a Maschio front flail mower to the operation can further improve mulching and organic matter breakdown, particularly in thick cover,” he added.
