New round balers have been introduced by New Holland, with the Roll-Belt 150 Plus and 180 Plus variable chamber balers, offering bale diameters up to 1.5m or 1.8m respectively. Isobus functionality is standard, although Tractor Implement Management (TIM) is not just yet. Instead, the company has integrated systems that operate when connected to a New Holland tractor, including automated stopping at the net binding stage and automatic bale eject.
The narrow, triangular drawbar and wide-angle pto is said to improve manoeuvrability in the field, and there is a choice of three pickups available: the 2m ActiveSweep for dry crops; the SuperFeed rotor feeding system with no knives; and the CropCutter with 15 hydraulically activated knives.
As an option, a hydraulically controlled crop roller can be mounted at the front to ease feeding into the pickup.
Into the chamber, and there are four endless belts and five rollers, with near bearings throughout to improve performance and maintenance. A centralised bank of grease nipples speeds up daily checks, and there is also the option of automatic lubrication for the chain drives.
Only net binding is available, with the company’s duckbill system that is said to provide end-to-end coverage of the bale. There is also the option of a moisture meter, and automatic weighing is reportedly coming after being launched in America – though no reason was given for its absence here. Moisture data, weighing data and bale drop points will all be wirelessly transferred to the CNH FieldOps system to allow bales to be segregated based on quality.
