New feed blend plant opens in Dumfries

NWF Agriculture has opened a new feed blends plant in Dumfries.

This development and investment will further increase the supply of ruminant feed to farmers in Scotland and northern England. The new blends plant now gives NWF a UK wide coverage for blends supply alongside Penrith, Wardle and Wixland.

The NWF blends plant will operate from a 60,000 square foot hanger fitted out with 40 bays to contain animal feed nuts and full range of raw materials for manufacturing blends. The plant located on Heathhall airfield, part of the new Dumfries Enterprise Park, will be operated using a new computer system. Adifo is specialized computer software programme for the feed and food industry designed to reduce costs, optimise efficiency and improve the management of customer information, with NWF being one of the first UK businesses to use the system.

The blends plant boosts local employment initially with five new jobs.

“This is an exciting development for the business providing the business with a feed production and distribution hub in Scotland to enable us to continue to provide excellent service to our customers and the scope to continue to expand in this key market” comments Steve Howe, Operations Director.

“It enables NWF to take full control of manufacturing and supply of blends to farm and release production capacity at Wardle. We are pleased to be able to offer local feed production and supply to our customers” further adds Steve.

This is an exciting development for NWF, further raising the profile of the business in Scotland and Northern England providing the northern sales team with local animal feed production.
