ForFarmers announces new multi-nutrient fertiliser range

The new TopFert range from ForFarmers is a polysulphate product; a multi-nutrient containing sulphur, potassium, calcium and magnesium.

Microgranules range from 2mm to 4mm and are reported to have good binding and spreading characteristics, available in both water-soluble and plant-available forms.

According to ForFarmers, it offers a prolonged sulphur release to match crop uptake and reduce the risk of leaching. It is also low in chloride and so can be used in crops which are sensitive to this.

Paul Coupe, ForFarmers’ fertiliser product manager, says: “TopFert Reseed is an ammonium nitrate-based product with seven units of sulphur for grass and clover establishment. It also contains enhanced phosphate to ensure it remains available to the plant.

“The high phosphate inclusion also supports an increase in root mass, which is critical for plant establishment.”

Variants are available to suit the crop. TopFert grazing blends include a dual-action nitrogen protector to minimise losses, as well as sodium, calcium and sulphur.

TopFert GrazePluS has the addition of phosphate, as well as sodium, calcium and sulphur, with a prolonged release of sulphur.

The final blend is TopFert Cutting, with a dual-action nitrogen protector and the addition of sodium to boost palatability and intake.

Paul says: “Other nutrients can be added to the range as required. For example, 90% of soils in the UK are deficient in selenium levels and this nutrient should be applied little and often.

“Low levels of magnesium can result in grass staggers and, although often added to compound feed, this trace element can also be added to fertiliser.”
