The Society of Ploughmen is reporting a high number of entries for this year’s British National Ploughing Championships & Country Festival, which takes place on the 11th and 12th of October at Allesley, near Coventry.
Over 240 men and women have entered to compete for the National titles, with many also trying to win the chance to represent their country at next year’s World and European Ploughing Contests.
“We are thrilled with the level of interest this year,” said Stephen Cheeseman, chairman of the Society of Ploughmen. “It’s a testament to the enduring appeal of the Championships and the skill, passion and heritage behind the sport of ploughing.”
The event will not only feature competition ploughing, but also demonstrations of steam ploughing engines and new equipment, as well as vintage displays and sales stands.
While entries for ploughing are now closed, bookings remain open for trade stands, demonstrations, shopping, and crafts. Sponsorship opportunities are also available for businesses of all sizes, from small enterprises to industry leaders. This year’s main sponsors are Bridgestone/Firestone.
