    Biofresh Safestore introduces new features

Biofresh Safestore, reportedly the leading potato sprout control technology provider in the UK, has added two new features to its system.

First is a CO2 monitor, which can be incorporated into new systems as an optional extra, or retrofitted to existing equipment. This takes readings every thirty minutes, with data transferred to the HMI system.

It can be further connected to store ventilation systems for fully automated management of CO2 within set parameters. The company states that the active management of CO2 levels will help maintain fry colours when using ethylene as a sprout suppressant.

The second new feature is Pulsed Start, which introduces ethylene to the store in short bursts, following a gradual increase of continuous ethylene to mitigate the impact on fry colours.

It can be programmed for full automation, with assistance from Safestore technicians to identify the optimum programme.

    Jeremy Barraclough

Jeremy Barraclough of Biofresh Safestore says: “As a company, we have always been focused on providing the best possible method of helping our customers deliver the best quality product, and these two new features will make achieving that even easier. Both the CO2 monitor and the pulsed start functionality take the Biofresh Safestore system to the next level and give our growers even more control of their stores.

“We’ve worked hard to ensure that both of these new features can be added easily and quickly to existing systems and do not require existing customers to purchase completely new systems. We think both features will further enhance the quality of the potatoes that our customers are storing.”
