The latest episode of Machinery Matters, Farm Contractor’s very own podcast is now live. In it, machinery editor Matthew Tilt speaks to Stephen Howarth from the Agricultural Engineers Association about the record tractor registrations seen throughout 2021.

Despite the challenges of Covid-19, the subsequent supply issues across the industry, and the ever-unpredictable weather. Tractor registrations have consistently been above the level seen in 2020 and have even exceeded the five-year average. During the conversation, Mr Howarth breaks down to what extent this is the market making a recovery and whether we are seeing a boom in tractor sales.

It’s not just real-life tractor sales that are exceeding expectations. GIANT Software’s Farming Simulator has been something of a surprise success story, earning industry support and a host of fans both from within agriculture and outside of it.

Following the announcement of a new precision farming DLC co-produced by John Deere, we sat down with Dr Thomas Engel to talk about the upcoming Farming Simulator 2022, how John Deere is working with the developer to accurately portray farming and the benefits the game can have in educating people outside of the industry.

Beyond that, there is also the latest headlines from the farming world.

You can listen to the latest episode here or find Machinery Matters on all major platforms, including Apple Podcasts where if you can leave us a five-star review.
