Quality British meat and a selection of premium dairy products will take center stage in Germany later this year at the world’s largest trade fair for food and drink.

The Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB) is returning to the 34th edition of Anuga in Cologne from October 7 – 11, joining more than 7,000 exhibitors from 100 countries, making this exhibition the largest food event in the world for 2017.

This year, AHDB will have its largest ever presence at the show – exhibiting pork, beef and lamb across nearly 285 square metres of show space in the Anuga Meat Hall.

A total of 16 businesses will join AHDB in individual booths – the highest number of attendees in more than 30 years of exhibiting.  Throughout the week there will be a selection of tastings, served up by popular German chef Michael Baumgarten and his team who plan to cook around 1,500 pork, lamb and beef dishes.

And for the first time, AHDB Dairy will be joining the Great Britain pavilion in the Anuga Dairy Hall. A total of 12 companies will exhibit alongside the AHDB stand – showcasing all that British dairy has to offer.

A selection of cheese from Britain will also be served to 350 food and drink professionals at the 25th British Meat Dinner, organised by AHDB with the co-operation of the Department for International Trade and Defra. The dinner is funded by AHDB’s beef, lamb and pork sectors to showcase the country’s high quality meat.

AHDB Export Manager Susana Morris said: “We are delighted to be returning to Anuga with our biggest attendee list in more than 30 years. Anuga is an incredibly popular event which attracts leading food and drink professionals from around the world.

“With Brexit on the horizon it is crucial that businesses look at new markets outside of Europe. Anuga represents an opportunity for us to showcase our quality meat and cheese on the world’s biggest and most important platform for the food industry at a very important time for our industry.”
