Red Tractor renews benchmarking agreement with GLOBALG.A.P.

Growers can continue reaping the benefit of their Red Tractor membership, following the announcement that the assurance scheme has renewed its benchmarking agreement with GLOBALG.A.P. – the world’s most widely implemented farm assurance certification.

The Red Tractor Fresh Produce scheme has, for the past three years, provided the option to gain a GLOBALG.A.P. certificate without the need for extra assessments. This is an added bonus for growers looking to export produce.

Jim Moseley, Red Tractor chief executive, said: “This refreshed benchmarking has secured one of the many important benefits to being a Red Tractor assured. It affords producers the attractive option of a simplified route to the global marketplace for fresh produce, without the need for additional assessments to gain the necessary certification for export.”

Alongside Red Tractor’s revised standards, introduced in November, the refreshed benchmarking agreement has ensured that the assurance will translate into global market access.

The scheme has also extended benchmarking for hops, which opens the chance to access GLOBALG.A.P. Hops sub-scope certification by completing a module. This certification is increasingly seen as a condition of supply by brewers in the US and elsewhere.
