Zetor announces new Series 6 tractor range

This year will see the introduction of an all-new tractor range from Zetor, running from 131-171hp and replacing the current Forterra.

The 6 Series marks a return to the company’s roots, with tractors branded in a numerical arrangement, linked to the engine performance. Each model is powered by a 4.1-litre Deutz engine, with the flagship offering 171hp at 1,900rpm.

This is put to the ground through a new ZF TPT 16 powershift transmission, with a six-step multiplier for the forward five gears, and three shifts for the three reversing speeds. The top speed is 40kph, with electro-hydraulic control over the shuttle and shifter, and manual changeover of gears.

The more robust gearbox enables an increase in the maximum rear axle load of the tractor, now sitting at 8.5t, with the total tractor weight topping out at 11.5t.

Included within the system is Smart Braking, enabling the tractor to be brought to a stop without using the clutch.

The hydraulic system has also been uprated, with an axial-piston pump delivering 120 litres/min. Linked to this is a three-point hitch with a maximum lift capacity of 7.2t and a 3.5t front linkage.

As standard, four mechanical spool valves are fitted at the rear, with the option of two front spools. The new rear PTO allows up to four speeds, with an electro-hydraulic clutch pack.

A new cabin has been fitted, with hydraulic dampener suspension and coil springs, working with the suspended front axle. Mounted on the seat is a new armrest with ergonomic controls, as well as a 24in touchscreen monitor.

Several prototypes were tested throughout 2024 across the Czech Republic and Germany. One of the test farmers, Tomáš Srnec, said: “We’ve been testing it since summer, and I must say it’s a significant step forward.

“It’s a modern machine capable of handling even the most demanding tasks, whether it’s discing, subsoiling, or transporting crops. Fuel consumption is low – for example, during shallow cultivation, we achieved only 7.5 l/ha, which is an excellent result.”

“The Series 6 will become Zetor’s new flagship and set a new direction for the development and assembly of our future products. With a power range from 131 to 171 HP, the Series 6 will replace the current Forterra model,” explains Róbert Harman, CEO, Zetor.

“I can already confirm that work and testing are underway for the Series 5, which will correspond in performance to the Proxima model range.

“As part of our long-term product plans, we will also introduce tractors corresponding to the Major range, as well as a completely new model with over 200hp.”
