Said to round out its cultivation range, Kuhn introduced the Highlander stubble cultivator, offering a working depth of between 3cm and 20cm. It is available in widths of 6m or 7.5m, and is suitable for tractors from 180hp up to 400hp, depending on the depth. The main working area of the machine incorporates four rows of tines, each with a non-stop mechanical safety with a breakback point of 350kg.
The tines have been upgraded to feature 10cm of lateral movement, allowing them to move around obstacles and continue back into work. These are offered with a full choice of wings.
Up front, there is the option of a row of cutting discs, with adjustable pressure, or levelling blades to break up clods ahead of the tines. At the rear, there is the choice of a double-U roller or a triple set of harrows, with the option to remove the rear tool in wetter conditions to leave soils open.
Sowing updates
Finally, the company concluded its launches with updates to the Megant and Espro drill series. Designed for minimum tillage, the Megant tine drill can now be ordered in a 7.2m and 8m model. Three choices of tine are available, although the company says 100% of the UK market opts for the 12mm version.
These are set out over four rows to enable high levels of soil and plant residue to pass through the machine. Both new models are fitted with an 1,800-litre hopper and can be fully controlled through an Isobus terminal. Riding on the front wheels, Kuhn says these machines can follow contours independently of the tractor, ensuring that the correct seeding depth is maintained.
The design also ensures they have a low overall weight and a reduced power requirement. Kuhn recommends 180hp for the 7.2m model and 200hp for the 8m, with both also available with an SH 1120 hopper to apply multiple products in one pass.
For the new 1002 (R) range of Espro trailed machines, customers can choose from 3m, 4m and 6m working widths. The smallest model has a 2,500-litre hopper, increasing to 3,500 litres on the larger two. Updates include a new mid-height side platform to ease filling, and a half-opening mode to allow loaders to get close to the hopper.
Straight working discs have been added to limit soil disturbance and maintain moisture in the soil. The Espro machines benefit from new DuraKarb and DuraSteel components, which use carbide plate to increase the working life.
The drills can be fitted with up to six working zones, with levelling, tillage, tamping, seeding and consolidation, making them suitable for work on ploughed ground or in minimum tillage scenarios. All functions can be controlled through the Isobus terminal.
