The Agricultural Engineers Association (AEA) have released tractor registration figures for July.
A total of 880 machines were registered that month, a drop of 7.2% compared with the same month in 2024. The AEA notes that this is also 20% below the average for this time of year.
It brings the total for 2025 to 5,749 machines, 15.8% below the same period last year.
According to the AEA, farmers appear to be lacking the confidence to invest, possibly due to uncertainty about agricultural policy and economic conditions at a national and global level.
The added financial difficulties for arable farmers are also preventing recovery in the tractor market, despite strong milk and livestock prices.
