The UK manufacturing sector has suffered another blow, as Lincolnshire-based Chafer Machinery, which produces agricultural sprayers, applicators (under the brand name Horstine) and de-icing equipment, has filed a notice of intention to appoint administrators.
It follows months of turbulence within the UK market, with Househam Sprayers (now Househam Group) restructuring its business and the collapse of Rea Valley Tractors, to name just a couple of high-profile examples.
A statement on the company’s website reads that the business is being prepared for sale, and has noted that customers and suppliers with urgent queries should contact Leonard Curtis, a specialist insolvency and restructuring firm.
At the time of writing, the factory is now closed with no parts or technical support available. Customers are advised to speak to their local dealer regarding support.
