New entry level UTV from Polaris

Polaris extended its Ranger UTV range with the new 500 model, bridging the gap between the Sportsman ATV and the larger Ranger 570. It uses an in-house 567cc petrol engine and has a basic rollover protection frame and roof instead of a full cabin, with the option of front and rear screens. At the rear, the gas strut assisted tipping box can hold 227kg.

The company notes an increased interest from growers to move up from an ATV, thanks to the added safety, increased capacity and ability to carry a passenger, without significantly increasing the size or weight of the vehicle.

The standard specification includes the company’s on-demand all-wheel drive and a turf mode, which unlocks the rear differential to prevent damage when working on golf courses or paddocks. A front winch, rated to 1,134kg is also included.

The machine measures just under 150cm wide and offers over 25cm of ground clearance, enabling it to handle difficult and narrow farm tracks. Priced at £9,999, the company states that it is the most accessible entry-level UTV on the market.
