Claas has brought down its Cmatic continuously variable transmission to the specialised tractor segment with the updated Nexos range.
The flagship 2.120 is fitted with an FPT engine, rated at 116hp with a maximum output of 120hp, with 466Nm of torque available at 1,500Nm. The stepless gearbox enables precise speed control between 0.1kph and 40kph, with field and road modes to adjust responsiveness and efficiency.
Designed for working in vineyards and narrow-row crops, which can often be found on sloping ground, it also includes an active standstill, allowing for safe pulling away on hills.
Dynamic steering is included, cutting the number of steering wheel turns by half, as well as automatic pto deactivation based on the position of the link arms. Using the Cmotion joystick, operators can use the Claas Sequence Management system, enabling up to 30 functions to be automated as part of four headland sequences.
The front and rear linkage have a near-identical capacity (2,910kg and 2,930kg) and there are four electronic valves at the rear, as well as Isobus compatibility, all controlled through the Electropilot joystick.
Four body variants are available, going down to just 1m wide for the narrowest rows.
An open-centre hydraulic system is fitted, producing 50 litres/min, with an additional 38-litre/min pump for steering. Up to six valves can be fitted to the rear, and the rear linkage has a capacity of 2,800kg.
