Launch of new Valtra tractors and precision loading app

Together with the launch of its new fifth generation N and T Series tractors, Valtra is launching the completely new Precision Lift & Load app for G, N and T Series SmartTouch models.

Combined the new app and tractors are said to offer the best possible tractor experience, making it easier, more efficient and more comfortable.

Precision Lift & Load app takes front-loader control to a new level

Precision Lift & Load enables the tractor operator to use and measure loading tasks in a completely new way with the precision of work significantly enhanced by the loader scale function, which weighs the loads of different materials, such as hay bales when feeding livestock.

The app collects weighing data, and once the task has been completed, the operator can transfer the data to an Excel spreadsheet for invoicing purposes.

Furthermore,  the upper and lower limits for loader movements and the maximum angles can be set, stopping the loader automatically when the limits are reached. This is combined with an easy-to-use shake function that helps the operator ensure that no materials remain in the bucket such as wet snow or sand.

The app is integrated into the SmartTouch terminal and does not require any separate controls or displays allowing the operator to relax and enjoy the work while the tractor automatically takes care of all the front-loader settings.

Functions for different front-loader tasks can be saved as profiles in the SmartTouch interface before performing the same task again, the operator can select the most suitable setting from the profiles.

Valtra’s smart front loader uses the same hardware as its other front loaders; two pressure sensors and two position sensors plus an ECU controller are located inside the beam. The key role is played by the SmartTouch software, which combines the data collected from the sensors and communicates the operator’s wishes to the front loader.

The Lift & Load system is integrated into the SmartTouch terminal and can provide real-time load weights, ideal when filling a mixing wagon for feeding.

A long tradition in providing the best front-loader experience

Factory-fitted front loaders have for years offered Valtra customers high-performance loaders that are easy to operate and suitable for a wide range of tasks, including the most demanding in terms of hydraulic power. The small turning radius of Valtra tractors also makes front-loader work more efficient than with any other tractor.

A large panoramic roof provides excellent visibility when the loader is raised. In addition, the operator does not need to lean forwards to see the load. The low engine cover also provides a clear view to the front. The exhaust pillar and air intakes are positioned in such a way that they do not impair visibility when driving or working.

G, N and T Series models are also available with a third function that enables bale grabs, for example, to be used at the same time and with the same joystick as other front-loader functions.

This also enables precise and continuous movements instead of just on or off functions. The hydraulically tiltable tool carrier, X-Tilt, is available as an option from Valtra Unlimited, making front-loading work even more precise.

The Precision Lift & Load app will be available starting this autumn as a factory-fitted option on G, N and T Series tractors equipped with the award-winning SmartTouch armrest. The system will also be available later as a retrofit package for 5th generation SmartTouch tractors.

N and T Series packed with new features

One of the most visible new features on 5th generation N and T Series tractors is the display on the A-pillar, replacing the traditional instrument panel behind the steering wheel and where all the important information, such as the driving speed, engine speed and time, can be easily seen on the colour screen.  The operator can also select information for controlling the tractor and implement. The display can also show radio station and smartphone information via Bluetooth.

When climbing into the cab of the 5th generation N or T Series, it is obvious that the tractor has been thoroughly revamped:

    1. The steering column is completely new and adjusting the position of the steering wheel is now easier.
    2. Valtra’s proven forward-reverse shuttle lever has been updated, making it now easier to change directions when switching between different controls such as the SmartTouch lever or the TwinTrac shuttle.
    3. Starting off in the B and C speed ranges is easy, even with a heavy load, thanks to the new Start Boost feature.
    4. Changing between speed ranges is now faster, which is noticeable especially at road speeds.
    5. The steering wheel is bigger than before but handy in size, as is characteristic of Valtra tractors.

Mikko Lehikoinen, vice president, sales and marketing at Valtra said: “The new tractors are not only good looking, they are also easy to use, they have many new smart functions, and they are extremely comfortable to operate. We have made plenty of improvements in the new series based on customer feedback on our award-winning fourth generation tractors. Precision farming is at the centre of the new generation, and each new model is available with Valtra Connect.”

    More comfortable work

The new cab is more comfortable and allows for more productive work. In SmartTouch models, the right side of the cab has been redesigned, and the seat swivels even more to the right. The control panel also has a handy phone holder and optional USB charging points for mobile phones, tablets and other electronic devices. The upper part of the backrest on the new generation Valtra Evolution seat swivels with the driver and also provides support when the driver has partially turned around to look at the implement at the rear.

A higher-quality dark Premium interior is available as an option in the cab and includes, for example, a leather-covered steering wheel, partially chrome pedals and rubber padding at the bottom of the storage compartments.

Attention has been paid to the operator’s comfort, with increased storage space, the latest A-pillar display with SmartTouch functionality and a wide array of seat and trim options.

    Even smarter models

Around two in three new Valtra tractors are equipped with automated steering or advanced smart farming solutions already today. Customers can also specify their new N or T Series tractor with Valtra Guide auto-guidance and smart farming features such as Task Doc and Section Control. Task data can be transferred seamlessly between the tractor and farm management software.

The brand-new Auto U-Pilot combines Valtra’s headland management system with Valtra Guide. Auto U-Pilot controls the implement with more precision in the headland, reducing the amount of attention required by the operator and making their job easier.

The amount of software options is increasing rapidly with the growth of smart farming technology, and Valtra customers can easily update the latest features to their SmartTouch tractors.

Mr Lehikoinen added “New legislation, such as the European Green Deal, is accelerating the need for precision farming, and agriculture will change more in the coming years than it has changed in recent decades. We believe that precision farming technology will play a key role in achieving sustainability goals. Ensuring that the right technology is used in the right place at the right time will help improve agricultural productivity. Valtra is ready to support farmers in this change”.
