Rebranded Campey Agriculture puts grassland into focus at Lamma

    Agri Seeder

The Lamma event saw Campey Agriculture, previously JC Machinery, highlight its range of grassland equipment from manufacturers such as Vredo, Imants, Evers and Weed Control.

Vredo’s range of Agri Seeders boasts a reported 96% germination rate, with its award-winning Crop Drill System (CDS) increasing the versatility by enabling the direct sowing of cereal crops onto stubble without tillage.

Arable crops are sown at 15cm row, while the machine retains a 7.5cm spacing for grassland overseeding and the company states that it is the only machine that can offer both overseeding and arable work.

Currently in use on farms and at plant breeding companies in a range of glasshouse and outdoor areas, the Imants Spader is said to make soil rejuvenation more efficient. It removes the need to handpick debris out of the soil after harvest and eliminates the need to subsoil, reaching depths similar to a subsoiler and bringing fresh earth to the surface before incorporating it.

Following the establishment of grass leys, compaction from grazing and heavy machinery can increase the risk of flooding and impact grass growth. Campey also offers a range of maintenance equipment from Evers, including the GPG range of spring tine harrows, which activate the soil, stimulate new growth and break up lumps of muck or slurry.

For weed control, the FLAME WeedControl Greenhouse weed burner is a tractor mounted unit to prevent the ingress of vegetation, crop residues, teases and moulds in larger greenhouses. It can also be used for thermal disinfection on concrete floors and the removal of large weed areas around buildings.

There’s also the Omarv Venezia 140 flail mower and collector, designed for use behind a 55hp+ tractor, it is heavy-duty and suitable for mowing and thick brush cutting. It’s said to be versatile and suitable for sports fields and golf courses, as well as amenity maintenance and heathland management.

Features include electro-hydraulic cutting height adjustment and automatic belt tensioning, while the collector unit can empty directly into trailers and lorries thanks to its high-tip facility. The drawbar can also be offset by 40cm to allow close mowing to walls and perimeter hedges.

For more general farm jobs, Campey offers the Club car 1500, featuring a semi-independent four-link rear suspension system and powered by a gas V-twin or commercial-grade diesel engine and boasting competitive ground clearance, towing capacity and durability.

It can handle tough jobs on rough terrain and, thanks to the suspension, can offer heavy-duty haulage work while maintaining eight inches of ground clearance. this also ensures that all four tyres remain grounded to preserve torque, traction and a smooth ride.
