Claydon’s Evolution to go on show at Lamma

At the upcoming Lamma event, Claydon will exhibit four of its latest products, including the new range of Evolution mounted drills. It comprises nine models, suitable for use in direct or conventional drilling operations, with a combination of enhanced features and proven functionality.

The two-tine technology, which was introduced in 2002, is at the heart of every Claydon drill and can work in a range of conditions while only moving soil in the sowing area. The front tine removes compaction, aerates the soil and creates drainage, while the seeding tine deposits seed.

It’s available in working widths of 3m, 4m, 4.5m, 4.8m, 5m and 6m, with 9, 13, 15 or 19 tines depending on the width. Most feature a 1,910-litre hopper, while the 3m Evolution 3MF and 4m 4MRF have a 2,700-litre tank with a 50:50 split for seed and fertiliser. Second and third hoppers are also available to increase versatility.

Evolution machines feature a hydraulic fan, Artemis metering control, tramlining, the front tine/seven-inch A-share configuration, a double rear toolbar and road lighting. According to the company, daily outputs can range from 20 hectares for the 3m model, which requires 150hp, to 40 hectares for the 6m, which requires 300hp.

Seed depth adjustment is done hydraulically, and Claydon has improved access to the metering system to ease calibration. A row of front-mounted, hydraulic discs can also be specified if required.

A range of quick-change coulter options is available, as is GPS-controlled variable rate seeding, pre-emergence markers, stone protection, a micro-fertiliser applicator, a blockage sensor and a light and vision kit.
