‘Smart fertiliser’ brand appoints new business manager for UK

Levity Crop Science has announced the appointment of Nigel Lyster as the UK business manager, looking to strengthen its presence in the market.

Mr Lyster joins the team as Levity strives to improve awareness and understanding amongst UK farmers of its nutrient-use efficiency focused portfolio. The company’s products use proprietary technology that works with the crop’s natural systems to aid uptake of key nutrients and allow reduced application rates.

“While we’ve always been British-based, more than 70% of our products are used by growers overseas,” said founder and managing director Dr David Marks. “Attracted to the benefits of bioactive products that can improve yield, quality and shelf-life, while improving resource-use efficiency.”

Mr Lyster explained that he could not turn down the opportunity to join the firm. “I’ve always been interested in crop nutrition, growth performance and yield, and in working with farmers to help them deliver top-notch results.

“But now the economic and environmental scenery has changed, that demands much more focused thinking on appropriate nutrition strategies, particularly for nitrogen.

“Levity’s science-led attitude, its willingness to invest in quality research and product development – including its new plant science facilities – and its exhaustive trialling and testing, gives them a thorough understanding of a product’s capabilities and the crop’s response.

“The UK’s farmers are progressive and open-minded. These products have a lot to offer in helping our farmers address some of the many challenges they face, from productivity to profitability to sustainability.”
