Amazone adds 12m TopCut shallow cultivator

To meet customer demands for ultra-shallow tillage, Amazone has introduced a 12m version of its TopCut machine.

The TopCut 12000-2T cutting roller combination has three tool sections, as well as an optional rear toolbar. A double-knife roller shreds long plant residue such as oilseed stalks or cover crops to accelerate decomposition.

Where more intensive action is required, a combination of knife roller and Minimum TillDisc wavey discs can be used, cutting both crosswise and lengthwise to increase the shredding effect.

For more cultivation action, the main tool segment can be fitted with a double row Minimum TillDiscs, cutting into the ground down to 3cm without moving the soil to aerate and promote soil warming. The knife roller can then be used as a front tool.

There is also the option of a rear set of harrows, to distribute plant residue and produce a fine tilth behind the machine. This can help to promote a flush of weeds to destruction before planting.

The harrows can be hydraulically adjusted from the cabin, with the option to add carbide tops for extended wear periods.

It is also possible to fit a packer roller in place of the harrows. Both the 600mm DW disc roller and the KWM 600 wedge roller are available to suit differing soil types.

According to the company, the TopCut can work at speeds up to 20kph. Combined with the working width, this enables high daily work rates to be achieved, while fuel consumption is said to be just 2.5 litres/ha.
