    The 9000 Series self-propelled forager range from John Deere has been extended with two new models. Powering the latest 9500 and 9600 machines is an all-new 18-litre John Deere engine, producing 700hp and 750hp respectively.

    These latest power units feature the company’s proven HarvestMotion low engine RPM concept, said to provide 10% increased performance and 10% reduced fuel consumption. Additionally, the JD18X engines require no DEF.

    John Deere has also introduced HarvestMotion Plus, which provides exceptional torque rise and even more power at a low engine RPM. Torque levels are 4,136Nm and 4,250Nm respectively, available at 1,300rpm. It also produces extra power up to 766hp on the 9500 and 787hp on the 9600, while retaining the 10% reduced fuel consumption and a 33% lower oil cost according to the company.

    Updates are featured throughout the new machines, with a new 20cm longer eight-row spout design with optimised contours and styling to enable higher throughput and additional openings to aid with servicing.

    A wide, 850mm crop channel is tailored to handle the increased throughput and provide the best possible forage quality. The drivetrain and mainframe have been uprated and both models feature the proven DuraDrum cutterhead to handle large crop flows.

    Kernel processor rolls are available with a standard sawtooth design on the Premium KP unit and either a sawtooth or a new XCut design on the XStream KP, which offers a spiral cut groove across the roll surface. In both cases, the Dura Line heavy-duty coating is available for increased durability.

    Both models can also be equipped with John Deere’s complete Intelligent Solutions Group (ISG) range of precision farming systems, including:

    • The HarvestLab 3000 near infrared (NIR) sensor to view and document real time measurements of crop yield, moisture and other constituents such as protein, starch, fibre etc, as totals or in site specific maps;
    • HarvestLab 3000 also enables AutoLOC automatic length of cut settings and silage additive dosing on the move based on the dry matter content, and can be used in statitionary mode to analysing clamp silage in order to manage feed rations more accurately, as well as being suitable for measuring the constituants in slurry;
    • AutoTrac automatic steering and the MachineSync automatic coordination of the tractor/trailer speed and the position of the forager, with the option of RowSense to follow maize rows and Active Fill Control to automate trailer filling;
    • Access to the John Deere Operations Center web portal for active fleet management and machine and harvest data.
