Knight to showcase new nozzle control system at UK shows

Exhibiting at Midlands Machinery, CropTec and Lamma, Knight Farm Machinery will highlight its new Vario Select system, designed to provide an even spray application when working on unevenly shaped field margins or around fixed in-field obstructions.

The system uses combinations of four different capacity spray nozzles at each spray point to offer up to 16 different application rates, typically ranging between zero and 800 litres per minute. It can also spot spray from a prescription map.

According to managing director Brian Knight, Vario Select offers a flexible rate control, with turn compensation and the ability to instantly switch between nozzle types, which is handy for liquid fertiliser users.

It uses a computerised nozzle selector, allowing the operator to dial in the target rate, required droplet size, minimum and maximum pressures and the working speed range. The system will then display the available working range.

“The operator can also ask the system to recommend the best choice of nozzles for any particular job,” Mr Knight said. “Vario Select uses well-recognised technology; is fully integrated with the sprayer’s computer system and is fully ISOBUS compatible.”

A gyroscopic system is used to adjust the output when working in curved tramlines, ensuring that no matter the difference between the inner and outer boom tip speeds, the application remains right across the working width.
