As Tractor of the Year 2022 gets underway, a series of video interviews with the winners from last year have been released.

Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the event, which brings together journalists from 25 European countries, was held online and the 2022 edition will be a mix of in-person and digital events. For the first time last year, it was sponsored by tyre specialists BKT, which has returned as a sponsor this year.

Farm Contractor is proud to be the UK judge for Tractor of the Year and we look forward to bringing you coverage of this year’s event.

    Sustainable Tractor of the Year

Starting with the newest award. Claas took home the second ever Sustainable Tractor of the Year award for the Claas Axion 960 CEMOS, featuring the CEMOS for Tractors operator assistance system. It’s designed to help operators correctly set up the tractor and implement for operation, including suggestions for ballasting and tyre pressures.

Watch the video below to see an interview with Dr Martin von Hoyningen Huene, head of Claas tractor division and member of the Claas Group executive board.

    Best of Specialized

The Fendt 211 V Vario was awarded the Best of Specialized award, featuring a host of technologies brought down from the large tractor portfolio. It’s also available with an extensive precision farming package and the latest FendtONE platform, which connects the tractor to the office with intuitive and uniform software and terminal layouts.

In the video below, Tractor of the Year chairman Fabio Zammaretti speaks with Christoph Gröblinghoff, vice president and brand head of Fendt.

    Best of Utility

Valtra’s latest G Series of tractors, specifically the Valtra G 135, won the Best of Utility award, with judges highlighting the versatility of the machine, as well as the introduction of high specification technology in a utility tractor. The Versu specification which was recognised in the competition is also fitted with the award-winning SmartTouch control system.

Mikko Lehikoinen, vice president of sales and marketing for Valtra, discusses the win below.

    Tractor of the Year

Completing a hat-trick of awards for AGCO, the Massey Ferguson 8 S.265 was recognised as Tractor of the Year for its unique design, intuitive control system and powerful performance. Also highlighted was the new E-Power transmission, combining CVT style operation with the efficiency of a semi-powershift gearbox.

Watch the video below to see a conversation with Thierry Lhotte, vice president & managing director of Massey Ferguson, Europe & Middle East.
