Launched at Agritechnica, the new 8 Series TTV from Deutz-Fahr features two models offering 313hp and 340hp. The company has dropped the Deutz engine, replacing it with an FPT power unit with an electronic variable geometry turbo. The switch to FPT reportedly offers a shorter wheelbase and makes the tractor lighter, while also being narrower to provide greater visibility to the front.
Torque levels max out at 1,398Nm, while the aluminium cooling system is said to improve temperature regulation even in difficult conditions. It’s matched to a ZF-built transmission that offers transport speeds of up to 60kph.
It features a brand new SigmaVision four-pillar cabin, with a gap between that and the engine bay to isolate the driver from noise and vibration. It’s pneumatically suspended, matched to a newly developed front axle suspension system with extended swing arms. To ensure safety even at 60kph, dry disc brakes have been fitted.
Back into the cabin, and a new iControl armrest has been fitted, with colour-coded controls. The iMotion joystick offers configurable buttons and is complemented by the CrossLever, which has multiple layers for adjustable control of several functions. The 15in iCluster display is mounted on the A-pillar, giving a detailed overview of the entire machine, while the 12.8in iMonitor 5 provides access to the company’s Smart Farming Solution, as well as control of various machine parameters.
Hydraulic performance comes from a 220 litres/min load-sensing pump, with a separate CleanOil tank. Up to ten valves are available, with a dedicated low-flow spool for the hydraulic top link and pressure relief levers for easy coupling and uncoupling. The rear lift can handle up to 12,000kg, while the front lift has a capacity of 5,450kg with Load Relief Control.
There’s no word on when the new cab, or the switch to FPT, will be seen across the rest of the range, but this was billed as a new start for the company, so expect many of the features to move down the horsepower brackets.
