New Holland T7 Heavy Duty is ‘Intelligent All Ways’

During an online presentation, dubbed Intelligent Farming All_Ways, New Holland introduced the generation of T7 Heavy Duty tractors, equipped with a full suite of precision farming technology and a completely new cab.

Sean Lennon, vice president, New Holland Agriculture, Europe, introduced the new product: “We asked our customers what they expected from their future tractor and developed the new generation T7 HD based on their demands, and it delivers everything they dreamed of. We designed the brand-new Horizon Ultra cab to give them the best working experience with all the space, comfort, quality finish they asked for, and the quietest cab on the market. On top of this, the next-generation PLM Intelligence will make it easier for them to access our intelligent farming solutions which deliver substantial added value in terms of better decision making and accurate execution, boosting their efficiency and profitability.”

During a product walkaround, it was revealed that the Horizon Ultra cab features just 2% of components from the previous generation. It has been lengthened to provide additional room for the passenger, and storage space has been increased, with a 30-litre compartment behind the seat, a 12-litre cooled compartment, covered storage behind the passenger seat with USB charging and mains voltage points, open storage trays on the righthand side and a netted storage bin in the roof.

Visibility was also a key concern, with a curved windscreen and larger back window and the possibility to equip a camera system to oversee areas of the tractors. A new LED work light package is available, with up to 24 lights to ensure visibility around the tractor and implement.

In addition to this, the control system has been reworked. The latest Sidewinder Ultra armrest includes the 12-inch IntelliView display and the controls can be configured to match the operator’s preference. Notably, and in an industry first, New Holland has introduced the CentreView terminal, fitted into the centre of the steering wheel, replacing the dashboard to improve visibility out of the windscreen and provide a clear line of sight for all machine information.

The CentreView terminal puts machine data in the operator’s line of sight, while the new SideWinder Ultra armrest features a 12-inch display and configurable controls

For greater levels of comfort, the climate control system has zone selection and 35% more capacity, while the top-of-the-range Auto Comfort seat offers lateral suspension and a climate control system that extracts moisture on hot days or warms on cold mornings. Advanced connectivity allows operators to link their mobile devices to the displays and configure buttons to take calls or play music on the go.

    Moving towards Agriculture 4.0

In addition to the all-new cabin, New Holland has also integrated updated versions of its Precision Land Management (PLM) software. PLM Intelligence is the name for the company’s electronic architecture, which will be adopted across New Holland equipment over the coming years to offer a familiar logic across the fleet.

“These new developments are the result of New Holland’s strategy to be more and more connected to our customers,” said Carlo Lambro, New Holland brand president. “Servitisation and digitalisation are the gates to the future. They have made it possible to integrate the physical presence at the wheel with an array of digital services that mean we can always be at our customer’s side, helping them to get the job done.”

The suite of technologies includes precision farming applications to help optimise yield and input costs and solutions based on connectivity and machine monitoring to improve productivity, analyse data, and make informed planning decisions. Through the MyNewHolland application, customers can register their machine and retrieve technical information, as well accessing the MyPLMConnect portal where they can manage their fleet and farm data in one place. Real-time data from machines in the field is wirelessly sent to this portal for quick decision making.

Greater visibility from the cab and a full LED light package make up part of the specification.

There is also the new PLM Cygnus receiver, which will be central to the autoguidance systems. Said to provide reliable position information for terrain compensation and the quick relay of guidance lines. It also supports New Holland’s satellite correction sources as the RTK correction signal distributed through the PLM RTK+ network.

Proactive maintenance is also possible with the New Holland Remote Assistance tools, allowing dealers to perform remote diagnostics to support the operator in the cab. Dealers are also made aware of error codes and can even prevent possible failures according to the company.
