    Vicon updates round baler range

Vicon has refreshed its RV5200 series variable chamber round baler models, with changes designed to improve output and lower operating costs. Designated the Plus-series, the new RV5216 and RV5220 models are available with a range of intake systems including the SuperFeed rotor or 14-knife SuperCut crop chopping systems. Maximum bale sizes are 1.65m or 2m depending on the model selected.

A redesigned roller crop press has been developed to lift higher over heavier crops, while the side support arms have been strengthened and bolstered with improved limit stops. Greater protection against crop wrapping has been provided for the bearings, which are now mounted inside the rollers.

A 2.2m pick-up reel with twin-cam tracks and five tine bars now features 10mm longer tines and wider stripper plates to improve cleaning in wet conditions. The robust drive chain adds further durability, as does the rest of the driveline with long-life Heavy Baler Chain (HBC) specification chains for higher fatigue strength and increased wear resistance.

Into the bale chamber and a new design of idler rollers features 45% increased bearing diameter, along with larger internal grease capacity and improved shielding. The idler rollers also gain a continuous central shaft for added rigidity. The drive rollers now have cast iron housings and centralised grease banks, easing maintenance alongside the folding PTO stand, with hose and cable storage.

The latest Plus models are completed with high-level LED road lighting, positioned out of the way to reduce the likelihood of damage. Models are available for the 2021 season, priced from £39,908.
